Body Fitter (MET)

Why not pursue a career as a vehicle body fitter? As a Mechanical, Electrical and Trim Technician you will identify damaged mechanical and electrical components so that can be fixed. Typically suspension.

Your main tasks will include:

• Identifying the extent of damage to vehicles
• Accessing and removing damaged components
• Installing new components
• Using welding and soldering equipment
• Ensuring that the vehicle is in working order

To become a Mechanical, Electrical and Trim Technician, you might be well advised to do an apprenticeship, where you would gain technical certificates designed to give you the knowledge and skills you need. An NVQ/SVQ in Vehicle Body Repair and Refinishing is available at levels 2 and 3 to prove your occupational competence in addition to your Key/Core Skills.
